Predator Head Specifications

Casting Type:

Special modified 356-T6 Aluminum casting by Buddy Bar Castings.

Water Jacket:

Full flowing large water jackets surrounding exhaust, spark plug, and throughout the head at stock locations.

Head Bolt Pattern:

Fits Mopar Big Block B, RB, and Hemi stock bolt patterns.

Bore Spacing:

Fits standard 4.80" Wedge-Hemi bore spacing.

Required Bore Size:

Minimum of 4.380" bore is required.

Valve Design:

Canted Valve- 10 degree intake and 5 degree exhaust.

Intake & Valve Covers:

Fully machined O-ring grooves hold a perfect seal on both the intake and valve covers.

Valve Covers:

Sheet metal valve covers with a billet machined rail, held by a whopping (7) bolts for a good seal. (Available on request)

Combustion Chamber:

Designed allowing a 52-72cc chamber up to 16:1 compression ratio using flat top pistons, excellent for smooth burn & flame travel. O-ringing available upon request. (Provided with a approximate chamber volume of 68cc's)

Intake Port:

Intake ports are a large 380 cc's of volume but small enough to speed the flow of fuel thru at 28" of vacuum.

Valve Size:

Intake- 2.400" diameter and Exhaust up to 1.870" diameter

Valve Types:

Both Titanium & Stainless valves are available with hardened tips. (.310" & .343" valve stems are allowed for - Customer must designate size at time of order)

Lash Caps:

Lash caps available on any valve with special lash cap & valve locks for those wanting added rocker riding surface.

Valve Guides & Seats:

Bronze guides and a special premium quality bronze alloy valve seat is used.

(Choice of 5/16" or 11/32" guides are offered at time order is placed.)

Valve Lengths:

Intake- 6.800" long and Exhaust- 6.750" long.

Spring Pockets:

Pockets are cut for up to 1.650" spring diameter and installed heights from 2.20" +/- .05". (We suggest springs placed in hard steel spring cups)

Spring Retainers:

We suggest use of titanium retainers and steel cups on any setup.

Port Plugs:

Four head bolts are accessed thru special designed ports which are then plugged and torqued to a specific setting that brings the contour and shape of the plug back into alignment with the intake port. This was designed to time the plug, thread, shoulder, and locking point back every time to the same point to match how the head was shipped. They are also sealed with O-rings to eliminate any leakage. NOTE: The bottom opening in the intake port is sealed by the head stud, washer, and nut. Flow test showed a very negligible difference (5-8 CFM) with the opening plugged or without.

Flow:

Intake @ .750" lift flows approx. 485 CFM with a performance valve job and combustion chambers finished. (Every head and application will achieve different flow numbers based on each configuration.) Exhaust @ .750" lift flows approx. 330 CFM and 360 CFM with pipe and perfoemance valve job and finished combustion chambers. Testing was done @ 28" vacuum using a 4.500" bore fixture.

Valve Train:

Solid 1 piece steel stand construction machined flat on bottom with valve cant and angles machined into the stand for a clean and accurate layout. Tied down with (8) large head 7/16" bolts. (Stainless steel Heli-coils are installed for rocker stand tie down.)

Rocker Shafts:

.625" diameter hardened and ground 8620 alloy.

Rockers:

Constructed from 2024-T6 billet or extruded aluminum laid out and designed by T&D Products of Carson City, NV. (Larry Torres & Brad were instrumental in the design and prototyping of our valve train and bring many years of experience with them.) Rockers use a hardened and ground roller tip.

Ratios:

Rocker ratios of 1.75, 1.80 and 1.90 are available with others possible on special request. The 1.75 ratio will cover lift ranges of .720"-.825" and 1.80 ratio covering ranges of .785"-.885", with the 1.90 ratio covering ranges of .850" to over 1.000".

Oiling:

Oiling is supplied thru the pushrod to the rocker shaft and roller tips. Oiling can also be done using spray bars inside of valve covers once properly plumbed-in.

Deck:

The casting allows a thick .625/.500" deck thickness depending on what cc is machined for the combustion chambers. Also "Form Chills" are incorporated in the deck to improve the integrity of the deck and combustion chambers.
